For ages untold, art forms such as dance, theatre, and visual art have educated, influenced and altered the lives of artists and spectators. Many times art is viewed only for its aesthetic value, and is not considered as a tool which can influence ideas. Luv2Dants is dedicated to fusing the gap between these two ideas by creating dance pieces which project reality. By creating a piece which is realistic in content and true to current contemporary issues, Luv2Dants strives to influence audiences in initiating change around them.
Today hip-hop plays a major role in influencing our youth. From popular music to fashion trends, the youth of today are considered a part of the Hip-Hop culture. Luv2Dants creates choreography that blends contemporary ballet, modern, and jazz movements set to today's popular music. Luv2dants has also explored using hip-hop movements to classical music. This method of choreography allows us to tell stories by using elements which are appealing to a younger generation and infusing other styles that they may not be accustomed to seeing or hearing.
ARTISTIC DIRECTOR'S VISION It is my vision to consistently establish a high quality connection between the commercial dance world and traditional dance concepts. My works include choreography that blends contemporary ballet, modern and jazz movement set to popular music. These pieces allow today's generation to become loving spectators of the art form by giving them something they can relate to. It is my belief that great choreography is unpredictable, exciting, and is inspired by reality. In my work I also try to paint a picture of the realities that are faced by today's youth. In keeping with the mission of Luv2Dants, I have also experimented with performing hip-hop set to classical music, as well as visual effects. Overall, I have merged them together to bring something audiences of all generations can appreciate and relate to. |
